SUBERNEREKHA-OUR RIVER OF GOLD GREENATHON II

The Slide Show with audio inputs presented at NDTV’s Greenathon I was subsequently sent to the Honourable Chief Justice,Jharkhand High Court;His Excellency The Governor of Jharkhand and Sh. Saryu Rai formerly the local Legislative Representative from Jamshedpur West on the 25th Day Of August 2009 along with a WRITE-UP.Attempts to the office of Sh. Saryu Rai to obtain a copy of the WRITE UP since we had misplaced ours have been inconsequential to that extent since the receipt of the couriered envelope, the contents of the CD containing the 4 min. 23 sec. Slide show and equally important contents of the write up have ofcourse been never responded to for reasons that we may hopefully understand someday.
The WRITE-UP in brevity suggested the following:
Litigation over environmental abuse benefits none except polluters and vested interests till adequate adjudication and even later especially when the process is irreversible.The magnanimity of the blow to the environment can only be minimised through consensus vide compliance by dumping earth on the slag and a forestry program in its true sense persued thereon by Tata Steel and Jusco in the embankment concerned skirting the Lease Area and most importantly where a Water Management Scheme of about Rupees Seventy Crores has been awarded(www.juscoltd.com/ground-breaking.asp) to Jusco(a 100% subsidiary of Tata Steel) to provide water which would be drawn from the River Subernerekha .A forestry program on both the embankments with the aid of the Govt Agencies,the Tata Group Of Companies and the Forest Dept. would only make us see the light of the day by converting the stretch through which the River passes in Jamshedpur into a “GREEN CHANNEL” ensuring effectively thereby the requisite volume in the catchment area and most importantly greater volumes flowing downstream to other areas which genuinely need the RIVER to support the ecological balance,all life forms that depend on it and the Rice Bowl of the region besides the RIVER passing through Other States.
The innauguration of the Water Management Scheme was incidentally a few days later and our testimony to the companionship of our former legislative representative and the former Governor to the innaugural ceremony in the same vehicle on a day when Mr Prashant Bhushan, Sr. Counsel Supreme Court Of India was being awaited at the Court for some greater insight into Transparency,Accountability and Respect;in the backdrop of the fact that none ever responded would ever elude all Green Warriors.Mr. Saryu Rai’s efforts towards initiating the Water management Scheme, his involvement towards resurrecting the entire course of the River Subernerekha;the State under President’s Rule,the Governor as the Singular Head and the Honble’ Chief Justice under whose aegis we expect true democracy to survive made them the natural receipients of the CD and the WRITE-UP.
Our campaign we shall persue till resurrection and corporate accountability we shall endlessly certainly invoke and hound.The present initiative we are forwarding to other organisations and institutions too who have witnessed and withstood the might of corporations in an era of civilisation,treaties,conventions, protocols,legislations and sanctions vide the Rule of Law.Imperative enough we feel to iterate that several deaths have occurred in slag dumps in Jamshedpur when craters cave in too.Those unreported, we continue our campaign in tribute of those too and a Greener Revolution while making further suggestion that people along the RIVER who may need to be rehabilitated be involved in the Upkeep of the RIVER,the Forestry Program and also the Water Management Scheme which collectively are the belongings of the Community and no single individuals’ for their proximity to Polluters,Abusers, Their Agents or Corporations themselves who have returned little to Society and the Nation at large except deception and blatant violation of environmental notwithstanding Societal norms.
